We grow
a wide range of fruit and vegetables. The diversity seen in our fields reflects
the organic ethos of diversity over time and space. Supplying people
with fresh, quality food is very important to us – our produce
is good for both humans and the environment. It is also our belief that
fresh fruit and vegetables should be readily available to all – therefore
our prices are realistic, enough to cover our costs and make a small profit
to reinvest in the business, but not out of reach like supermarket prices
for organic fruit and veg. |

food we produce travels hundreds of yards, not hundreds of miles, from fork
to fork. Daily deliveries are made to our buyers so the fruit and vegetables

We
select varieties for resilience and taste, not for quick growth and bulk.
This includes some older varieties less regularly cultivated now; yet by not
growing these varieties, the country risks losing a valuable genetic resource.
No crops can be guaranteed in time or quantity, due to the nature of the
product. However, quality will always be guaranteed
– organic and local should never be an excuse for poor quality. When
we talk about quality, we’re talking about freshness, taste, nutrition
and vitality. Cosmetic quality is important, but a minor blemish says
nothing about what’s under the surface. What’s the point
of buying something you don’t really enjoy eating? |
